Interstate 20 in Calhoun to be closed for 24 hours on Aug. 6

Tuesday, July 27, 2021

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that beginning on Friday, August 6, 2021, Interstate 20 eastbound and westbound at mile marker 103 near the village of Calhoun in Ouachita Parish will be closed.

This interstate closure is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., and is necessary to move the newly constructed U.S. 80 bridge span into place as part of the ongoing $9.7 million overpass replacement project.

This closure is anticipated to last approximately 24 hours, though the closure could be extended into Sunday based on the progression of work.

I-20 through traffic will be diverted around the work zone using the on and off-ramp lanes. There will be no entry or exit onto I-20 at this location.

During this closure, there will be no access to U.S. 80 or Golson Road from I-20 or vice versa. There is no alternate route established for this closure, and motorists should be prepared for possible delays.

This work will be performed weather permitting. The entire project is anticipated to be complete in late 2021, weather permitting.
