Girls in Aviation Day held at Tech
The Louisiana Tech University chapter of Women in Aviation International recently held a “Girls in Aviation Day” to introduce aviation as a career. Activities included preflighting a plane, marshalling aircraft, reading a sectional chart, building and flying paper and balsa wood airplanes and more. While focused on young girls, boys were welcome and engaged as well.
At top, Pilot Rusty Lewis welcomes Carlisle Hunt into the cockpit to let her experience what it’s like to fly a plane.
Next, Tech students Tatum Thomisee, EmilyClaire Peden and Megan Rose welcome families to the event held at the Ruston Regional Airport. Third, Gabriella Genov learns how to marshal an incoming aircraft off the runway.
