A Canadian Pacific Kansas City freight train came to an unexpected stop in downtown Ruston shortly before 10:30 a.m. Thursday after narrowly missing a vacuum truck that appeared to be stopped partially on the railroad tracks at the Trenton Street crossing. The truck was emptying grease from a commercial grease trap that’s near the crossing. The truck wasn’t hit, but the train apparently ripped a hose from it. The hose landed alongside the CPKC office on West Park Avenue. At one point, the westbound train blocked Trenton Street and Monroe Street for a short while.
