Car crash near Dubach claims life of teenager

In the early hours of Thursday morning, Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a car crash on U.S. Highway 167, just south of Dubach.

At approximately 1 a.m., there was a single car crash that resulted in the death of a teen passenger and left the other two occupants with minor injuries. None of the car’s occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.

The driver, Darin Brown, Jr., 18, was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 167 at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle as it veered off the roadway and began to roll. The third passenger, Tyrell Smith, 22, sustained minor injuries from the accident. The teenage passenger was age passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. LSP is waiting for a toxicology report as it is suspected that speed and impairment contributed to the crash.
