U.S. healthcare needs reform

More than 60 percent of people who go bankrupt in the United States, do so because of medical bills. At least, that was the case in 2007 before the Great Recession, according to a June 2009 Reuters article.
The article also said that 62 percent was an increase from 46 percent in 2001. Considering that, and the state of the economy, it seems safe to infer that those statistics have either held steady or gotten worse. I hate to infer, but I couldn’t find any statistics more recent than these.

Easter food fun safety tips

I remember the good old days when we hid Easter eggs all day in the hot sun with my family and friends. We would take turns hiding them and finding them, it was an all day ordeal — I have seven siblings and the neighbor kids participated too.
We didn’t practice food safety back then. I guess that explains the upset stomachs.
To help you have a happy hunt, remember proper refrigeration, cooking and handling should prevent most egg safety problems.

Are ‘terrific kids’ really terrific

If the frequency of my own sightings is any indication, those “My Child Is a Terrific Kid!”
bumper stickers are fast becoming ubiquitous. Curious, I did some investigating and discovered that Terrific Kids is a school-based character-building program sponsored by Kiwanis.
Terrific is an acronym that stands for Thoughtful, Enthusiastic, Respectful, Responsible, Inclusive, Friendly, Inquisitive and Capable.
