Christmas has arrived early for KJ Malone.
The first gift came Monday when he was announced as a first-unit All-District 2-1A member.
Today, another gift arrived and with even fancier wrapping.
The offensive tackle for Cedar Creek High School was included on the top unit of the 2012 Class 1A All-State squad selected by members of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.
Malone, a 6-7 and 300-pounder who has verbally committed to play at LSU, is the lone member of the Cougars’ squad to be chosen for the team.

No bowl, but still big year for ’Dogs

Louisiana Tech University’s football season didn’t end the way its loyal fans wanted it to, but one thing is patently clear about the 2012 edition of the Bulldogs.
Despite not being among the participants in the upcoming and seemingly never-ending bowl season, Tech had one of its greatest campaigns ever.
In the overall body of work produced by the ’Dogs since early September, it was a season filled with exciting wins, a plethora of team and individual records and plenty of attention from the national media.

In popular media, people who ride motorcycles are always portrayed as unsavory characters. I’ve personally never had a problem with people who ride motorcycles, but it could be because I have family members who are bikers and who don’t walk into bars and beat people up or any of the other horrible things bikers normally do in movies.
And, on Saturday, I was able to spend some time getting to know a really nice group of people — and all of them were bikers.
