The city of Ruston announced, weather permitting, Jonesboro Street between Martin Luther King Drive and Abbot Street will be closed to through traffic Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
I had the privilege of writing a story 36 years ago of an impressive buck taken by the late Tommy Simmons of Ruston. On Nov. 13, 1986, Simmons was hunting in northern Lincoln Parish when a buster of a buck stepped out and he dropped the 12 point.
People get together, sing, recite poems, tell stories, and give gifts during Christmas time. This is exactly what the Lincoln Parish Retired Educators (LPRE) did for the residents at Ruston Nursing and Rehab Center earlier this month.
