It may be Super Bowl Sunday, but the Lincoln Parish Historical Society is hoping folks throughout the community will carve out a little time and stop by the Lincoln Parish Museum to help celebrate Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday.
The subject of the survival and the future of Historically Black Colleges and Universities is a must have conversation. HBCUs have dotted the landscape of American higher education for more than 170 years and have always been at the center of the conversation and controversy regarding the education of black people in the nation.
Professor Ira Andrew Lewis (July 5, 1893 to Oct. 14, 1936) was a pioneer in the educational development for Black people particularly in North Louisiana, and specifically in Ruston.
