Local book illustrator Michael Garriga will be taking part in a book reading at Kim Dupree State Farm today in Ruston from 3-5 p.m. as part of an effort to kickoff summer reading for children in Lincoln Parish.
With Peach Festival 2022 on the horizon, local artist Jean DeFreese Moore created a mural on the window of Ruston Artisans to help usher in the highly anticipated event. The 72nd Louisiana Peach Festival, a homegrown music and arts festival, is slated for June 4 and will feature more than 10 hours of live music, a juried arts market, food vendors, kids’ activities and more peachy fun in the heart of downtown Ruston. High school athletes always excel in this neck of the piney woods, and one of the most storied careers in Lincoln Parish prep sports will translate to college after Sarah Adams signed with UL-Monroe Tuesday morning at the Cedar Creek School library.
Bill Deese, professor in the Department of Chemistry at Louisiana Tech University, and the SCILS Region 8 LaSTEM Center recently wrapped up its “Making a CASE (Collaborating Around STEM Engagement) for Middle Grades” program as part of the EPSCoR (Louisiana Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research) program on the Tech campus. Students from Cedar Creek School and Choudrant High School engaged in a day filled with inquiry, demonstrations, interaction with STEM professionals and tours of innovative campus spaces.
Louisiana Tech president Les Guice and members of the faculty and staff at Louisiana Tech served breakfast at midnight to students this week as they pushed through finals. The Midnight Breakfast is a tradition at the end of the spring quarter and drew a large crowd (top).
