B I R M INGHAM — Grambling State University legendary pitcher Robert J. Williams was announced on Tuesday as an inductee to the Southwestern Athletic Conference 2022 Hall of Fame Class. The enshrinement will be held at 7 p.m. on Dec. 16 at the Omni Hotel in Atlanta. Williams was instrumental in Grambling State’s run of four straight SWAC titles during 1960-64. He was an outstanding pitcher who maintained and established a record of 35-1. In addition, he was honored and selected to be a member of the All- American baseball team for three years. He later played Minor League Baseball and coached American Legion baseball during summers.
