Grambling State University (GSU) student Jordan Braithwaite has been selected as an HBCU Scholar by the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities. She is among 86 students from across the nation being recognized for their accomplishments in academics, leadership, civic engagement and more.

DEAR HARRIETTE: My neighbor is super nosy and always oversteps with her questions about my personal life. She’s a nice woman, but her questions about my life and curiosity about what’s going on in my home is a bit annoying.

Dwight and Cheryl Lamkin will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 22, at Douglas Church in Ruston. The golden anniversary event will take place from 3-5 p.m. at the church, which is located at 1642 Hwy. 821. The couple children and grandchildren will be hosting the reception. The Lamkins were married on Aug. 21, 1971. They have two children, Brad and Shaleigh Lamkin of Ruston and Jeremy and April Lamkin of Ansley. They have three grandchildren.
