The race track, located at the present (1959) site of Vetville and Louisiana Tech’s School of Agriculture, was built by Ben Smith. Always kept “as smooth as silk,” the track was one-half mile long. A large bleacher-type grandstand with roof was erected, and during the racing season concession stands were rented to individuals and clubs.
