The Lincoln Parish Detention Center is still operating in the black.
Thanks to the success of the garden and the woodworking shop, Warden Jim Tuten recently told the LPDC Commission that the DC has made a $31,000 profit in the woodworking shop and a $6,000 profit from the garden.
“The garden profit is lower due to we bought tillers and other equipment,” Tuten said. “We’re having even better success with the garden this year since we started out in the greenhouse.”
He added the greenhouse has also saved the DC $4,000 in kitchen expenses.
