UP 4-day week looks promising
During February’s School Board meeting, Union Parish Schools Superintendent Steve Dozier presented a report on the four-day school week the parish has implemented this year.
And he hopes the report was positive enough to keep the four-day system in place next year.
“I think overall it showed that it helped save money in some areas and has resulted in higher attendance figures for both students and teachers,” Dozier said. “So far, I think the four-day week has worked out pretty good. We won’t have our test scores in before we set next year’s schedule, and those figures will be important. Hopefully the four-day week has increased focus the way it has attendance and we’ll see a rise in those numbers, too. ”
