Four games against Southeastern Conference opponents, seven games against in-state schools and its first run through Conference USA highlight the 2013-14 women’s basketball schedule for Louisiana Tech, released on Wednesday.
Head coach Teresa Weatherspoon and Co. will also play 13 games against teams that participated in the postseason last year, including six NCAA qualifiers, six WNIT participants and the Women’s Basketball Invitational runner-up.
Ray Lewis and the Baltimore Ravens won the Super Bowl Sunday. I don’t know if Lewis used a banned performance enhancing substance like has been claimed in the news this past week. He said he didn’t and the fact he was pretty much a non-factor in the Ravens’ victory validates his claim.
The banned substance that has made all the news is a product provided by Sports With Alternatives to Steroids, or SWATS. The National Football League identifies a product found in the substance as IGF-1, a banned performance enhancing drug.
LAKE CHARLES — It was three years in making, but the New Living Word Lions are finally kings of Louisiana’s Class C jungle.
After falling in the Class C semifinals the previous two seasons, the Lions roared to a 91-72 win Friday over Sicily Island at Barton Coliseum.
Javier Roper scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead New Living Word, pouring in 14 points in the second quarter as the Lions (31-8) stretched a nine-point lead into a 47-31 halftime advantage.
