Louisiana Tech senior quarterback Cody Sokol (above right) and Grambling State junior return specialist Ka’Jandre Domino have both been honored as Players of the Week by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association. Sokol orchestrated a dominant offense that scored the third-most points of any FBS team this year and the most of any FBS team this past weekend in a 76-31 rout of Rice.
Several members of the 2013 Louisiana Tech University team got a final day call during the recent Major League Baseball draft.
The Bulldogs had three players chosen during the third and last day of the annual selection process in which college and high school players are chosen by major league teams.
Being picked from the Bulldogs’ team were Sam Alvis, Ryan Gebhardt and Taylor Terrasas.
It ties for the largest number of Bulldogs’ players selected in the draft since 2011 when Tech sent three players to play professionally from that seasons roster.

The Ruston Dixie Baesball Association 8-year-old Select Team reached the championship round of the World Series being held in Laurel, Mississippi, Saturday after a pair of high-scoring games. The team lost to Columbus, Mississippi, in Saturday’s opener by the score of 9-7 before outlasting the Florida champions 17-15 to advance to the World Series Championship Bracket starting today.
