Ruston High School and New Tech @ Ruston 2014 graduate Chandler Haddox was the first ever recipient of the Tom and Cathi Cox Boniol New Tech Scholarship. Presented during the NT@R Graduation Celebration, the scholarship evolved from the profound experience Tom Boniol had in observing the students and staff at work within New Tech @ Ruston.
A Louisiana Tech student is facing charges of filing a false police report after a Friday incident alarmed students when a text alert was sent out by the university.
The text alert, sent out by Tech Police Chief Randal Hermes at 3:07 p.m. Friday, said “The Louisiana Tech University Police Department has just received a report of an armed sexual assault occurring near the Biomedical Building parking lot. The victim alleges that at about 1 p.m. (Friday), a black male armed with a gun, abducted and assaulted her. Police are now investigating the report.”
The proposed merger of Louisiana Tech University and Louisiana State University at Shreveport was recently pulled by its authors after it failed to obtain the support needed for a vote in the Legislature.
According to Tech President Dan Reneau, the university is going to continue on providing the best education it can for the students who attend.
