It was only the first football practice of the 2013 preseason, but the sense of urgency from the Grambling State Tigers was unmistakable Thursday night.
The team reported in good condition and with a serious attitude about getting down to work to begin the business of erasing memories of last year’s 1-10 campaign that included a winless Southwestern Athletic Conference record.
That’s not to say the Tigers didn’t have a little fun in their initial workout, but they were still all business during the practice session.
Louisiana Tech officials announced Thursday that a 2018 non-conference football game at LSU has been scheduled.
The meeting, set for Oct. 20, 2018, at Tiger Stadium (a.k.a. Death Valley, capacity: 102,321) in Baton Rouge, will mark the 20th meeting between the two in-state schools. The last meeting occurred in 2009 with LSU rallying for a 24-16 win over Tech after the Bulldogs held a 13-10 lead at halftime.
Tech remains the only public school in Louisiana to have defeated LSU in football.
Only twice before has Louisiana Tech played in front of crowds larger than 100,000.
