Papaw's Bible brings lessons
It had been in a plastic baggie under my desk at home for years. I knew it was there, but I had not picked it up to look at it for quite some time. For whatever reason, that day, I pulled it out of the bag. The leather cover is parched and cracking, and the pages are coming out of my grandfather’s Bible. I saw that it was presented to him on Dec. 25, 1946, by a Sunday school class at the First Baptist Church of Leesville, where he served as pastor.
I bet the Sunday school class didn’t know that they were giving me a gift some 64 years later. Let me explain.
