The Lincoln Parish Office
The Lincoln Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (LOHSEP) has scheduled Meeting #4 for its Hazard Mitigation Plan Update as part of a grant program administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The Lincoln Parish Hazard Mitigation Plan Update Steering Committee meeting will be on Wednesday December 15, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the Lincoln Parish Police Jury Conference Room, Lincoln Parish Courthouse, 100 West Texas Avenue, Ruston. Under the direction of LOHSEP, officials continue to work on the above-mentioned 2011 comprehensive Hazard Mitigation Plan Update. The primary intent of this project is to identify and document potential projects that are suitable for future federal funding as it becomes available. The project focuses on reducing the risks of loss of life, injury, or property damage due to natural and human-caused hazards (generally referred to as hazard mitigation). This updating process includes input from the Steering Committee as well as other community stakeholders. Each year, millions of federal homeland security grant dollars are made available to eligible applicants via programs such as the hazard mitigation program. With an approved hazard mitigation plan, Lincoln Parish will be eligible for competitive pre-disaster and noncompetitive post-disaster grant funds. FEMA awarded Lincoln Parish a $50,000 grant to update the 2006 Hazard Mitigation Plan. The Parish is collaborating with Witt Associates, a public safety and crisis management consulting firm based in Washington DC, to update the plan in accordance with state and federal standards.
