Balancing the budget
The city of Ruston’s approximately $75 million budget will likely shrink slightly as it rings in the 2010-11 fiscal year.
During a special-called meeting on Monday night, council members introduced the 2011 budget after they convened as the Personnel Finance Committee to approve it.
“Overall, our revenue is very neutral,” said alderman Jim Pearce, who serves as chairman of the Personnel Finance Committee. “Revenues are $77,000 less than in the 2010-11 budget. We do have a two percent merit raise for all (city employees) who qualify — no four percent — but all limited to two percent.”
