The extra dollars added to individuals’ property tax burdens have paid off for the district and its students.

Most all of the schools in the city have received new floors, lighting, heating and air conditioning systems, as well as additional classrooms because voters approved the 20-year, $33 million bond issue passed in 2004.

Using Ruston High as just one example, there are several new classrooms. The school has a new look for weight training, for its band and for its choir.
