Cattle killed when vehicles lock horns
Larry Mathews, residence and age unknown, was the driver of the cattle truck. He was uninjured, but some damage to the trailer let cows escape onto the road and woods surrounding the area. Men on horses were on the scene well into the morning, with law enforcement and volunteers working to load dead and live cattle onto trailers at 9 a.m.
Herman Poovie, the lone injured driver in the series of crashes, was taken to Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport for moderate injuries, Martin said. He was unsure of Poovie’s residence or age.
