Local lawyer Gina Jones, who rejects the theory that vaccines are a cause of autism, is the mother of a 6-year-old daughter with profoundly autistic behavior. Jones and Huggins will serve on a panel Tuesday, along with physicians and other experts, at the 21st annual Bruce Everist Series, which is focused on understanding autism.

According to the Autism Society of America, autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life and affects a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others.
