Our state has taken baby steps toward addressing the issue with a West Monroe-based project to remove a massive industrial user from the list of drains on the aquifer, but more is needed. Quickly.

Hydrologist Ben Magee made it very clear to Ruston’s attending crowd at a recent presentation on the status of the Sparta — with no real, concerted efforts that keep the issue of conservation constantly at the front of the public’s mind, the aquifer continues to suffer.
