Board of Ethics put to the test
It is a step forward for a body that has been absolutely crippled since the end of the 2008 legislative session.
At a board meeting Monday, Baton Rouge lawyer Frank Simoneaux was elected by the mostly new board appointed after a mass of resignations this summer.
The governor and the Legislature had to fill 10 of the 11 spots on the board in recent months.
Also Monday, seven administrative law judges were selected randomly to form a panel that will decide whether alleged ethics board violations have occurred.
