“What we’ve been told from the governor’s office and state economic leaders is 55-60 percent of Louisiana jobs will require skills beyond a high school diploma, but less than a four-year-degree, such as a technical or community college degree,” Postel said. “Right now, only about 8 percent of people in the state have that type of training.”

Several of the school’s programs — which typically take two years to complete — provide classroom instruction and hands-on experience that make it easy to step into jobs making $30,000 to $40,000 per year. A few of the LTC program offerings include:
