LaBruzzo pays for bad idea
Reports show the number of welfare recipients statewide has plunged over the past two decades, with more than a quarter-million enrolled at the beginning of the 1990s and less than 15,000 people supported in 2006-07. Total spending has also dropped from more than $180 million to just about $16.5 million in the same period of time.
LaBruzzo’s foot probably tastes a lot like unfounded alarmism at this point. And legislators blame the press for public misconceptions.
