Jindal’s administration has seen some glorious highs and not-so-glorious lows in the first half of its first year of power. Baton Rouge started off at a quick clip this year, with special sessions on ethics and business taxes generating a lot of news and publicity that lifted Jindal into a high spot in the public eye.

As Barry Erwin, the president of the Council for a Better Louisiana, put it this week, it’s hard to live up to the public’s high expectations. The regular session, which ran from the end of April until the end of June, just wasn’t as much a public event.
