Heller suggests parents find out if a given camp has an anti-bullying policy and talk to the parents of kids who have been there before sending their child to a camp.

Jimmy Williams, Ruston unit director of the Boys and Girls Clubs of North Central Louisiana, said the club has a zero-tolerance policy for bullying at their summer camps.

“If we see signs of kids playing roughly, name-calling or shunning any child, we address it immediately,” Williams said. “We really strive to make this a safe, positive learning environment.”
