Early on, decades before the term “domestic violence” was even coined, I had a number of peripheral experiences with it. Back in the ‘50s and early ‘60s when my aunts and uncles were teenagers, they’d have their friends over, sitting on the front porch in their cuffed blue jeans and white T-shirts. One of those friends who came to hang out on grandpa’s front porch, a beautiful girl with rich, dark hair, was already a victim of dating violence.
