Cell phone users invite danger
The numbers now are startling. The head of the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission has said drivers 15-17 years old make up 2.7 percent of the whole driving force in the state, but are involved in at least 7 percent of the crashes that cause injury.
One of the things about the bill that might put young people who are attached to their cell phones at ease is the offense would not be cause for a traffic stop by itself. It would be treated as secondary, meaning a motorist caught speeding could also end up with a ticket for cell phone use if caught.
