Animal control a parish issue

And that means enforcement with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The current setup is not working as well as it should. The evidence of that is as close as the yards, neighborhoods and parish roads that dogs, cats, horses and other animals can be found encroaching upon. But one deputy, who also serves as the parish litter enforcement officer, cannot control a population of animals.

Animal lovers in our community have taken the first steps, with entities like 4 Paws Inc. making an effort to help keep the population of dogs controlled and in loving homes, but more needs to be done.
