Students learn worldly skills
“I serve food, clean up and make pasta dishes,” said the 16-year-old who hopes to be a boxer one day. “I’m going to try and get transportation to come back here and work this summer. The pay’s pretty good for a part-time job.”
LaKeytra Harris, another Career Academy GED track student, said learning to make food and finding comfortable shoes, so her back wouldn’t hurt while she stood, were early challenges of the job at McCall Dining Hall, but the skills she’s learned in class have pushed her forward.
