Keep an open mind year-round
These stories and the various programs scheduled throughout the area are good things. But even more important than these special efforts is the attitude we exhibit day in and day out to people of different races.
A parent’s comments and actions have a much greater impact on a child than any Black History Month unit in school.
We must constantly be aware of how our words and actions affect other people and influence our youth. We should guard against stereotypes and generalizations of all kinds of people.
