Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker, North Central Louisiana Arts Council Director Jessica Slaughter and Assistant Director Tess Stickney awarded 29 cash prizes and 47 ribbons to outstanding artists from all over north Louisiana in front of more than 200 guests at the opening reception June 21 at the Ruston Civic Center.

Louisiana Tech University hosted 13 high school and middle school teams from across Louisiana and southern Arkansas for the second annual Louisiana Tech/Red Stick Robotics VEX competition on Feb. 1 in Tolliver Hall on the Louisiana Tech campus.
Each team was competing for a coveted spot in the Louisiana VEX Robotics State Competition to be held on Saturday in Lafayette, La.
Former Assistant Deputy of National Intelligence, professor and author Richard Immerman will discuss his latest book, “The Hidden Hand: A Brief History of the CIA” at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Library Events Center.
Gary Zumwalt is exhibiting his series of landscape, wildlife, and botanical photographs at Parish Press. For over 30 years Dr. Zumwalt has been a professor of Geography at Louisiana Tech University, and throughout his career he has used his camera as a tool for research.
His photographs have been exhibited in over 50 science venues, and he was the first to photograph sea lions underwater in Antarctica during the 1970’s.
He enjoys staying current with technological developments by taking photography classes.
