Staph infections surface in area

“There have been a couple of cases on the news where there have been deaths from this type of bacteria, and we wanted parents to know what to look for,” Cardwell said. “We are requiring students and school employees with anything that looks (suspicious) to get a doctor to look at it, and they have to have a doctor’s note before they can come back to school.”

Cardwell said the two afflicted with MRSA in the school system were treated with aggressive antibiotics.

She said a staph infection may vary in size, resemble a spider bite or pimple and progressively worsen.
