A similar proposal is in the works in Lincoln and Union parishes in Louisiana. The Lincoln-Union Water Initiative is currently funding water tests on Lake D’Arbonne to check quality and usability. Lake D’Arbonne has a sustainable yield of 200 million gallons per day according to USGS. It is not currently being used as a supply of potable water. The hope is that potable water from Lake D’Arbonne can be used in Ruston and Farmerville to ease the stress on the Sparta Aquifer. U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander, Sen. David Vitter and Sen.
