Is Sparta substitute feasible?
“Ten million gallons a day off the top of Lake D’Arbonne amounts to 1/64th of an inch,’’ McGee said. “The bottom line: 10 million gallons of water a day should not prove to be an issue for the lake.’’
McGee made his remarks Monday night at a meeting of the Bayou D’Arbonne Lake Watershed District.
McGee said the lake loses 50 million gallons of water per day to evaporation and that the daily yield — the amount of water that comes over the spillway — is 200 million gallons a day.
Union and Lincoln parishes both hold rights to the lake.
