Crash seriously hurts child
Both cars carried passengers: Brantley carried 4-year-old Byron Streets, and Gay carried 15-year-old Leeanna Gay.
The impact threw Streets, who according to police reports was standing in the front passenger seat, over the deployed air bag and through the front windshield. He landed on the curb, said Lt. Curtis Hawkins, Ruston Police Department public information officer.
Brantley was charged with negligent injury, reckless operation of a vehicle and failure to use a child restraint seat. Her court date is set Aug. 8. No other serious injuries were reported.
