Rain leaves Ruston in the dark
The rain left parts of Ruston and Grambling without power Friday. Ruston Power and Light’s Darrell Caraway said a downhill runoff washed away the base around a tree, causing it to fall on one of the city’s feeder lines on Fletcher Lane around noon Friday, knocking out power to businesses, homes, traffic signals and the local radio stations.
“It was a healthy tree,” Caraway said. “It just had too much water around its base.”
Entergy spokesman Jim Pesnell said a feeder line into Grambling was also out for a time Friday.
