The Lincoln Parish Detention Center Commission formally adopted its 2011 Amended Budget and 2012 Proposed Budget on Monday.
Expenditures exceed revenues in both budgets. For the 2011 Amended Budget, total expenses are $2.49 million and revenues are $2.09 million. For the 2012 Proposed Budget, expenses are projected to total $2.62 million, and revenues are estimated to be $2.08 million.
Commission chair and Sheriff Mike Stone said the housing of adult prisoners is the biggest expense for the commission.
The staff at Monroe’s KOUS Live 96.3 stopped by Grambling State University’s campus recently to give advice, provide internship and career opportunities in the broadcast industry to engineering technology and communication students.
“I was elated to come to Grambling State University to speak to all the students about the various opportunities in the broadcast field,” said Augusta Turner, also known as Lady A CEO of KOUS 96.3-LP. However, I wanted to see more ladies in the room because there is a need for more females in the broadcast industry.”
On Saturday MedCamps of Louisiana will host its 19th Annual Fun Shoot Sporting Clay tournament at the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office Training Center and Public Range in West Monroe.
This year’s event is proudly sponsored by 1st Franklin Financial, Scott Powerline, Glenwood Regional Medical Center, Community Trust Bank, Marsala Beverage and Vantage Health Plan. This is a five-man team event and is open to shooters of all skill levels. There will be door prizes and a shotgun raffle. A lunch will be provided.
