Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Sue Winkle Fast, age 81, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2012, at Lake Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Lake Lawn Funeral Home in New Orleans. Visitation will immediately precede the service and will last from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.. Mrs. Fast was born on February 16, 1931, and passed away at her home in Ruston on Sunday, July 22, 2012, following a lengthy illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Christian August Fast Jr., and her sisters Ellen Burton and Jean Barnett.

She is survived by her children, Kimberly Fast Ward and husband John; James Herschel Fast and wife Valerie; Christian August Fast III and wife Debbie. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves behind two precious family members who will always call her “Mom”, Pam Fast and Nona Mediamolle, as well as Steven Black who adopted her as his second Mom.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Family Legacy Missions International, 5005 West Royal Lane Suite 252, Irving, TX 75063. All donations will be used to build a home for orphans in Zambia. The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. J.V. Jones and Becky Murphy RN, the staff of Carroll Home Health, and to Lynn Porter RN and Kewanna Gray, hospice caregivers. A special thank you goes to Thelma Jenkins who lovingly helped care for “Mombo” on a long-term basis. Finally, “We do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep or to grieve like those who have no hope. If we believe that Jesus died and rose again, then we can believe that God will just as surely bring with Jesus all who are 'asleep' in Him.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14.
