It’s also hard to ignore that our culture that places children in front of the television before they can even comprehend the idea of a singing purple dinosaur is continually making us fatter. The number of Americans who are obese rises each year, but where the problem is becoming more and more pronounced is in our youth. When speaking to one of a group of Grambling State University students who are launching a campaign against childhood obesity, I learned that concern can start early — in students in grades kindergarten through second grade.
