Ruston works at recycling problems
On a recent afternoon Ruston Environmental Services Manager Camille Mize stood outside next to numerous items pulled from the city’s recycling dumpsters because they did not belong there.
“Every week they find things that are not supposed to be in there,” Mize said, as she pointed out a bread wrapper, aluminum cans and beer bottles.
The four recycling bins in the Lincoln Parish Police Jury Complex parking lot on Alabama Avenue are only for paper and cardboard that have not had direct contact with food. However, it appears many residents use the dumpsters to dispose of a variety of materials.
