Ruston High students rock
“The playroom is for children who are undergoing bone marrow transplants,” said Ruston High School teacher April Winstead, who is overseeing the Rockathon. “All of their toys must be new and sterilized. Because of their lowered immune systems, they cannot come into contact with the outside community.”
The idea of the Rockathon emerged in Winstead’s honors biology classes, when Winstead decided the students needed to participate in some type of service project.
