Board strives to better community
Kim Tatum, advisory board parent representative, said the statistics came as a shock to her. Single women and grandmothers, she said, are not the only ones who tackle child care duties with little aid.
“A lot of the breakdown is the father is not taking his place in the home and women trying to do it all,” Tatum said. “A lot of families have fathers, but they are not around — they’re doing their own thing and not helping take care of the children. If a man would take his place the way God wants him to, the world would be a lot better place.”
