Funeral services for Bennie Melle Liner Thompson, age 85, of Ruston, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 9, 2012 at the chapel of Temple Baptist Church in Ruston. Visitation will be on Monday from 1:00 P.M. until service time. Officiating the service will be Rev. Dale Oden. Interment will follow at Vienna Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.

Mrs. Thompson was born July 12, 1926 and passed away at her home in Ruston, LA on Thursday, April 5, 2012 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Howard Liner and her sister, Frances Jeannene Liner.

Mrs. Thompson graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a Master’s degree in Education. She loved teaching children and held a special place in her heart for each of her students. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Sunset Garden Club, and a Silver Member of Alpha Delta Kappa.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Bruce Thompson; her daughter, Shawn Moss and her husband Craig; her two grandsons, Corey and Blake Moss; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Corey Moss, Joey Booth, James Davison, Randy Moore, Terry Havins, and Tyler Mann.

The Thompson family wished to thank Professional Hospice Care for their love and support. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Temple Baptist Church Children’s Ministry or to a charity of one’s choice.
