U.S. healthcare needs reform
More than 60 percent of people who go bankrupt in the United States, do so because of medical bills. At least, that was the case in 2007 before the Great Recession, according to a June 2009 Reuters article.
The article also said that 62 percent was an increase from 46 percent in 2001. Considering that, and the state of the economy, it seems safe to infer that those statistics have either held steady or gotten worse. I hate to infer, but I couldn’t find any statistics more recent than these.
