Senators discuss 2012 session
The 2012 Louisiana Legislative Session will begin on March 12, and the three senators who represent Lincoln Parish have already been making plans for what they would like to see happen.
When redistricting took place in 2011 following the U.S. Census count, Lincoln Parish was split among three senate districts — 29, 33 and 35. The senators from each district discussed their thoughts on the upcoming session in interviews with the Ruston Daily Leader staff.
District 29 Sen. Rick Gallot, a Democrat who previously represented District 11 in the state House of Representatives, is a member of the Agriculture Committee and the Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Committee. He is also serving as vice-chairman of the Commerce Committee.
Gallot said the budget is a big-ticket item this year.
